How often we have so much experience and it makes us dull to reality. Christ’s resurrection should be a complete surprise but it often leaves us dull. How much faith John must have had that “He saw and he believed.” (John 20:8)
Working with young people and teens helps. Even though we can be a little dull to such realities, when we see one of them with surprise, it helps us discover these realities anew.
This morning I was meditating on just this. Why am I so numb to such realities? This is the most surprising event in history yet we now expect it. How useful it is to step back in the shoes of those first apostles in meditation and relive the surprise, the shocking joy of the resurrection.
