Death in Black and White: A darker book than expected but good

I tried to post this review of Death in Black and White: A Novel by Fr. Michael Brisson on Amazon, but it initially got rejected. I suspect I worded wrong that I got a free review copy (which is allowed but paying for reviews is not) as nothing else is even remotely questionable. Later, it was put up. Here you go:

Given it was a book about a priest from Ignatius Press, I first thought it would be some squeaky-clean version of Father Brown with maybe some catechetical lessons in it. Instead, it was a kind of dark mafia book where a priest is trying to figure out who they brought him to give last rites to before they murdered him.

The book started a little slow for me introducing various characters, but the second half was a real page-turner where you did not want to put it down.

As a priest, I can say a lot of the content about priestly life was true.

I was given the book as a gift from the publisher with no strings attached, but they did hope I would write an honest review.

If you enjoy this, go get Death in Black and White.
