Jesus Asks Virtue, Not Mere Sin Avoidance
Too often we think of rules in the abstract. We see the 10 Commandments as a bunch of “shall nots” without going deeper into them. We see the goal as avoiding or managing sin and forget how grace transforms us interiorly to virtue. The attitude that the goal of every Christian is simply to be free from sin is absolutely destructive of Christianity.
